I may be a little late to the table but how exciting that we welcomed the new Prince George into the world on 22nd July. I saw this week that the first official pictures are out and William and Kate look happy and content and as for their adorable dog – well he looked more than happy to be protector to the third in line to the throne. What better way to celebrate the new Prince than with an indulgent royal afternoon tea? Bond and Brook, the minimalist and classy restaurant in Fenwick’s (just off Oxford Street and Bond Street in London’s Mayfair), have designed an afternoon tea to celebrate the new royal arrival, the annual opening of Buckingham Palace and the Queen’s 60th coronation.
My sister and I headed over to taste for ourselves and after browsing through the designer brands in Fenwick’s we headed up to the second floor to a beautiful bar and restaurant, complete with a stunning central bar and stylish decor. We were greeted by polite staff who sat us in the corner – perfect for watching the world go by. We were there to try the afternoon tea although they also have a full menu.

Our afternoon tea arrived – dainty sandwiches and cakes on a three tiered traditional cake stand and a big vintage tea pot full of steaming tea. Red, white and blue Battenberg cake, royal shortbread with a chocolate coating and crown as well as fondant fancies with a patriotic twist give Bond & Brook’s afternoon tea that royal touch. The sandwiches included smoked salmon and cream cheese, Wiltshire ham with English mustard and egg and cress.
The star of the tea for both of us were the buttermilk scones which were still warm from the oven. Everything they serve is made in house, right down to the strawberry jam which was delicious. We polished off two scones each! The chocolate tea cakes had gorgeous little crowns on them and the fondant fancies were creamy, rich and totally yummy.
Our afternoon tea was free of charge but my opinions are my own.
