Review: Raja Monkey, Hall Green, Birmingham

As you know, I'm a big curry fan. I also love street food so my recent visit to Raja Monkey (where they serve authentic Indian street food) was always going to be the highlight of my week! As part of the Lasan group I knew the food would be great so with one of my best mates in tow (and a new face to gingey bites) I headed over there to stuff my face.

Although the frontage looked good, the restaurant from the outside is very unassuming - perhaps just another curry house along a row of shops in the Birmingham suburb of Hall Green. Once we walked in, we were greeted by a warm space full of terracotta shades, an open kitchen full of busy chefs, soft lighting and most importantly, smiling staff.

Peanut Butter & Banana Pancakes

If you're a regular blog reader or are on instagram, you'll no doubt have spent most of the day reading about and looking at pictures of bloody pancakes. Well here's some more for you - after all, it is pancake day!

This recipe comes from my good friend (& excellent freelance photographer) Anna. I would strongly recommend you check out her instagram to perve over all her lovely pictures but please do come back to my blog and finish reading this post!

Review: The Curzon Arms, Woodhouse Eaves

Despite my love of fancy restaurants, you really can't beat a proper good pub. One where the locals are 'local' and the bar staff are friendly. Extra brownie points if they serve food and double brownie points if the food is good. Having heard many people recommend The Curzon Arms to me, this month I finally got round to going there for dinner with my very favourite blogging buddies. A picturesque country pub in the lovely village of Woodhouse Eaves.

If you are local to the Loughborough area, you may well have eaten in one of the Curzon's sister pubs The Windmill or The Blue Bell Inn. I've reviewed the Blue Bell on here before (here) and raved about it. In fact, I've never had a bad meal there and it was even the venue of choice for my 30th birthday family meal but sadly, The Curzon Arms didn't quite meet my expectations.
