We arrived to a buzzy atmosphere in quite a blingy bar which then opens out into an airy and light eating area. To start we enjoyed some great cocktails - vodka based and somewhere between a cosmo and a pimms. Delicious.
As we sat down, we were told that we wouldn't be eating from the new menu as there were teething problems in the kitchen and the chef wasn't able to run the full menu. This was a real shame as I was looking forward to trying some of the dishes - which are mainly classic pub grub items like pizza, burgers, pies and sharing platters. See the menu here. Instead we were treated to a range of canapés including cod and chorizo balls, mozzarella and sun dried tomato bruschetta, chicken skewers and duck with garlic mash.
Part way through the evening, the chef came out to speak to us and told us about how he's sourced alot of his ingredients locally - using the local butchers and farmers for his meat and vegetables. He told us the menu will change frequently to allow him to keep it ultra seasonal and he also talked about there being a focus on duck within the menu. A quirky nod to the name of the pub. I couldn't see that this was overly apparent on the menu but perhaps it'll be something they'll develop over time.
