Travel Bites: Valencia, Spain

Yum
I've always loved Spain. I've been lucky enough to spend time discovering the real Madrid (thanks to friends living there), have been to Barcelona and of course one or two girls holidays on the Costa del Sol. In early May, my gingey side kick Vicky and I headed over to Valencia in search of sunshine, oranges and an adventure in a new Spanish destination.

The thing which I loved more than anything was the ease of Valencia - small enough to walk around but with enough going on to feel like you're on an adventure. Easy to get from the East Midlands and not too expensive - it was the obvious choice for our girls week away!

What the Fuffle? And Foodies Festival, Birmingham

Yum
Last weekend I spent Sunday dodging the rain clouds at Birmingham's Cannon Hill Park for the inaugural Foodies Festival there.

Everything looked good as we arrived, a beautiful park with one end full of tents and food smells floating over the railings. I spotted the giant pimms teapot and was excited to get in. For me personally, whilst I thought it was a nice food festival, I'm not sure it lived up to the hype. From everything I'd read, I was expecting it to be bigger and probably more like the BBC Good Food Show than it actually was. It felt more like something you'd come across in your local town. That said, there were some great stalls there and we ate some excellent food too. It was a nice way to pass a couple of hours.

Review: Crafty Burger, Leicester

Yum
Avid Gingey Bites twitter followers will remember me raving about the Crafty Burger pop up at St Martins coffee house late last year. For some reason they never made it onto the blog but fear not dear reader - burger porn o'clock is here because in the words of Take That - crafty is 'back for good'.

Being a food blogger often has its perks and this was definitely one of those occasions - an invite to their launch party. So, with Charlotte in tow (I gave Vicky a night off!) I headed over there a few weeks ago to see what was on the menu.

Review: Lunch at Gino's Pear Tree, Woodhouse Eaves

Yum
As you know, we have a big love of Italy and all things Italian and edible in my family. So, when it was my step father's birthday a few weeks ago, we decided to celebrate with lunch at Gino's Pear Tree in Woodhouse Eaves. This family run restaurant is really authentic, serving mouthwatering pizzas from a traditional wood oven and really great modern Italian food.
