Moving House Pizza & Adventures Ahoy!

Gingey Bites Pizza

A little under two weeks ago we packed up our flat, put all of our worldly goods into storage and got ready for the next chapter of our lives. For the next month, we’re house sitting and couch surfing with friends. Then, once October 16th rolls around we’ll be jumping on a big plane and flying off on a rather exciting adventure!

Gingey Bites Papa Johns

I’m not one for sharing many personal details on my blog but in the last two years so much has changed that I feel like I’m hardly the same person. I’ve gone from being married and very settled with a full-time job and two cats, to finding out my husband was up to no good and having to change everything about my life.

Roll forwards two years and my divorce is going through, I quit my job to work for myself, met the love of my life and moved from Loughborough to Bristol. I can honestly say that I’ve never felt happier and now, we’re doing something even bigger. The cats are at Dave’s parent’s house living the life of Riley and in three weeks time, we’re going travelling. Starting in Australia and seeing where we go from there. I’ll be blogging as we go, digital nomad style, and all I know is that we need to be back by April for a friends wedding!

I don’t know about you but in my family, a takeaway always signifies the first and last night in a place. It’s ritual. The kitchen is packed up and you’re surrounded by boxes. It’s the perfect excuse for something a bit naughty for dinner.  So, of course, we upheld this tradition on our last night in the flat with a big pizza courtesy of Papa Johns

They’d contacted me the day before to ask if we’d like to try their new limited edition pizza ‘Arabian Pulled Lamb’ and the timing could not have been better! It turned up perfectly on time and still red hot. The Arabian pulled lamb pizza features pulled, slow cooked, lamb shoulder which has been marinated in middle eastern spices and pepper confit, red onions, fresh tomatoes and slices of pepperoncini (spicy jalapeño type chills). The flecks of spicy pepperoncini were really tasty and the flavour of the lamb permeated through the rest of the pizza. I usually order pepperoni pizzas so the change to lamb was great. Why don’t you see it as a topping more often?

I have to admit I’ve always preferred Papa Johns for takeaway pizza anyway, having consumed many of them over the years with my friend Patrick. The addition of a kebab style chilli always makes me happy. Papa Johns deliver all over the UK so if you don’t feel like cooking, why not be naughty and treat yourself to a pizza? A large pizza is more than enough for two people and they start at £12.99.

So, with three weeks left before we jet away, I have to say I’m sad to leave Bristol, albeit just for a short while. It’s a fantastic city for foodies with so much going on, who knows how many new restaurants will open whilst we’re away! I’ll be on a mission to discover all the new things when I return, that’s for certain.

If you’ve been to Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bali and South East Asia (our rough itinerary) please do share your foodie top tips with me, I’d love to hear them! I’ll, of course, be documenting the trip on here plus Instagram and Twitter so please keep in touch!
